Betting house halts wagers on new 007

LONDON, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Britain's Ladbrokes betting house has stopped wagers on who will be the next James Bond, the Sun reported Thursday.

Ladbrokes halted the activity after what appeared to be a possible sting: in less than one hour they took in six bets of as much as $940 each that Colin Salmon would be the first black 007. That crashed the odds from 20-1 to 6-1.

Colin, 42, has played M's right-hand man in the last three Bond films.

He also has stood in for outgoing 007 Pierce Brosnan when women were being auditioned.
