Wyle looks ahead to 'ER' discharge

NEW YORK, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Actor Noah Wyle says he has mixed feelings about leaving the popular NBC drama "ER" after 10 years.

"It's a very ambivalent time for me," Wyle, 33, recently told UPI. "It's not an easy decision to go and I'm sure it will be very emotional and take some getting used to.

"Every sadness is tinged with the sense of possibility and the sense of liberation and I have a feeling that as much as I'm going to miss it I'm going to be happy to not have my time so dominated and not have my life so wholly preoccupied by one thing as it has been for so long."

Wyle said he would love to see his Dr. Carter character reunite with his estranged girlfriend and return to working in Africa.

"I hope they don't kill me," Wyle confided, insisting he doesn't know what awaits Carter. "I want to stick around for a little while. I'd like to be able to come back down the line."

Wyle can be seen Sunday channeling Indiana Jones in the adventure movie "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear" on TNT.
