John Travolta goes grey for new movie

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- John Travolta has gone gray, but it's just for his new movie, Time magazine reported in its latest issue.

The star of "Pulp Fiction" and "Saturday Night Fever" sports gray hair for "A Love Song for Bobby Long," a drama due in theaters later this year. Travolta told the magazine he's already heard from one critic who didn't like the look very much.

"My daughter freaked out," he said.

The movie features Travolta as an alcoholic literature professor who is befriended by Scarlett Johansson ("Lost in Translation").

Travolta's friend Tom Cruise went gray earlier this year for his turn as the coolly professional hired killer in "Collateral." But Travolta said his character does not wear it as well as Cruise's character did.

"Bobby Long is bruised fruit," he said. "Kind of decrepit."

By the way, Travolta said it would be OK by him if he really did turn gray.

"It's never been an issue for me to grow old, grow gray, grow fat, grow skinny," he said.
