Actor Corey Haim's drugs stunned doctors

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Former child star Corey Haim says he took about 85 Valium tablets daily in addition to illegal drugs during his 1980s acting heyday.

Haim, now 32 and attempting an acting comeback, said doctors were awed at the massive amounts of drugs he ingested while filming "Lucas" and "The Lost Boys" two decades ago, World Entertainment News Network reported Tuesday.

"I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack. I started on the downers, which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck. But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day. The doctors could not believe I was taking that much. And that was just the Valium -- I'm not talking about the other pills I went through," Haim said.

Haim reportedly attempted 15 rehabilitation stints before a stroke helped him kick his addiction.

"I'm clean, sober, humble and happy," Haim said.
