Aussie groups call music videos pornograpy

MELBOURNE, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- The Australian Family Association and Young Media Australia said Sunday they want tighter controls on the content and classification of music videos.

The associations complained that TV shows often feature music videos that contain semi-naked women, "suggestive" dancing, sexually explicit themes, and violent lyrics, the Melbourne Herald Sun reported Sunday.

"Many of these clips are really sheer, pure pornography," said Australian Family Association spokesman Bill Muehlenberg. "It's video after video clip of half-naked people dancing around with suggestive poses. With the rap songs particularly there are guys with five women hanging off their arm; it's like their own little harem. We are back in the stone age where women are being seen as sex objects or pets."

Muehlenberg said lyrics and themes were also a problem.

"Every other word is 'F U' and 'You Bitch'. It's sexist and violent language and it's not something you want force-fed to young kids," he said. "There are anti-authority, anti-police, anti-parent and pro-promiscuity and drug use messages and children are soaking it up by the bucket load."
