Courtney Love is off to rehab

LOS ANGELES, July 28 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles judge sentenced rock singer Courtney Love, who has battled legal problems for the past nine months, to 18 months in drug rehabilitation.

Love, in typical style, showed up 15 minutes late Tuesday for her court hearing on a driving under the influence charge, where Judge Patricia Schnegg gave the entertainer until Oct. 29 to enroll in a treatment facility, E! Online reported Wednesday.

During the 18 months, Love must refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages, avoid places that sell alcohol and cannot take any non-prescription drugs.

She will be allowed to travel, but must attend weekly counseling sessions for six months. If Love complies, the judge could dismiss the charges in 18 months, E! Online said.

Love is due back in court Thursday in Beverly Hills, Calif., to face two charges of illegal drug possession.

The charges, to which Love pleaded innocent, carry a maximum jail sentence of three years and eight months.
