Ray Charles musically eulogized

LOS ANGELES, June 18 (UPI) -- Ray Charles had a musical sendoff Friday during a Los Angeles funeral at a church packed with digitaries and luminaries from music industry.

Willie Nelson, Wynton Marsalis and B.B. King performed from the pulpit of the First AME Church during the tribute to the venerable pop music legend who died June 10 at the age of 73.

Burial will take place later in the day following a procession that will pause for a moment in front of Charles' L.A. recording studio.

Several thousand fans paid their respects before the casket during a public viewing Thursday at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
