LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Rob Lowe says he still cherishes the memory of making his first film, "The Outsiders," two decades ago.
Based on S.E. Hinton's classic young adult novel, the 1983 film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and launched the careers of Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell, Diane Lane, Ralph Macchio and Patrick Swayze.
And for an actor, a great experience like that is tough to top, Lowe told United Press International.
"It's like your first kiss," he explained. "You remember it forever and those relationships, to this day, whether it's with Tom Howell or Tom Cruise, whenever I see anybody from that (movie,) we're brothers.
"And we were there beating the crap out of each other to be in more close-ups than the other one and staying the extra three hours to help the other guy with their dialogue and we were beating each other up with our boxing gloves in the hallways because we were bored. You name it, we did it and we went through it together and we'll always have that connection."
Lowe can next be seen in the TNT miniseries "Salem's Lot."
