LOS ANGELES, April 5 (UPI) -- John Wayne has been the latest Hollywood star memorialized by the United States Postal Service in its "Legends of Hollywood" postage stamp series.

A stamp portraying the Duke in his classic cowboy regalia was unveiled Saturday at a charity benefit for the John Wayne Cancer Institute, the BBC reported Monday.

"He would be glad to know he will be visiting the homes and businesses of millions of his fans every day," said Ethan Wayne, one Wayne's seven children.

James Dean and Marilyn Monroe have also appeared on Legends of Hollywood stamps.

Wayne has appeared on a stamp before, as Ringo Kid in "Stagecoach" in 1990.

The actor, who appeared in more than 150 films, died in 1979 from cancer.
