Lollapalooza to blend success, credibility

LOS ANGELES, March 9 (UPI) -- Lollapalooza organizers say this year's U.S. touring music festival will blend commerciality with credibility; that is, make money and still be cutting edge.

The people putting the event together say they are aiming to "blend success and commerciality with credibility and meaning and risk taking," William Morris Agency senior Vice President Marc Geiger tells Billboard.com.

Geiger is booking the event again after taking last year off.

"I can assure you, as long as I'm involved, it wouldn't be anything but very cutting edge," Geiger says.

He would not, however, divulge what bands might perform at the festival.

Bands rumored to be close to signing on for the event are the Pixies, the Cure, Nine Inch Nails and Sonic Youth.

Lollapalooza is expected to hit the road in July and August.
