Canadian model to portray Fawcett

SYDNEY, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Model Tricia Helfer has been tapped to play '70s icon Farrah Fawcett in a movie about TV classic Charlie's Angels, Sydney Daily News reported Thursday.

Although a very near match to Fawcett physically, Canadian Helfer admitted she needed some help to recreate the star, including prosthetics and a voice coach to imitate Fawcett's speech patterns.

The movie will depict the less-than-glossy truth behind the Fawcett image, the Daily News said.

Fawcett struck fame as an actress on Charlie's Angels after a poster of her in a bathing suit came to the attention of the show's producers.

A talk show appearance in 1993 in which she rambled incoherently led to rumors of Fawcett's breakdown and drug abuse.
