Older actors teach Osment about profession

NEW YORK, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Teen actor Haley Joel Osment said in New York he learned a lot about his craft from watching masters like Michael Caine and Robert Duvall.

The three co-starred in the family movie "Secondhand Lions," due out on DVD and home video Tuesday.

"They're great," "The Sixth Sense" star told UPI's Karen Butler in a recent interview. "As people, it's amazing to be around them, to hear them talk and tell tales and stuff. Then on the set, acting with them, they're also incredible. They can teach you so much just by being who they are and doing what they do as actors. You really learn a lot about the profession."

Caine has starred in dozens of films, including "The Cider House Rules," "The Quiet American" and "The Statement," while Duvall is best-known for his performances in "The Godfather," series, "MASH" and "Apocalypse Now."

"Secondhand Lions" is about two grumpy old Texan brothers who tell their young ward about the many adventures they had in their younger years.
