Radiohead leads NME nominations

LONDON, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Radiohead has scored the most nominations for the NME Awards, which were announced Tuesday in London, including nods for best British band and album.

Radiohead, which also was nominated for best single, live band and video, earned a total of five nominations.

The Darkness and The White Stripes both earned four nominations, while The Libertines and Kings Of Leon compete in three categories each.

Justin Timberlake is up for best solo artist against Pink, Har Mar Superstar, Ryan Adams and Damien Rice.

Competing for best international band are The White Stripes, Kings Of Leon, The Strokes, Queens Of The Stone Age and Foo Fighters.

Winners in the British music awards will be announced Feb. 12 in London. More than 25,000 votes, a record-setting number, have been cast this year by NME readers, the magazine said.

Last year's major prizes at the NME awards were shared by Coldplay and Oasis with two each.
