Baldwin says he's turning over new leaf

NEW YORK, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- American actor Alec Baldwin says his stormy marriage to and divorce from actress Kim Basinger has left him a calmer man.

"I am changed as a human being as a result of this," Baldwin told the New York Daily News. "I don't want any unnecessary conflict, I don't want to take any risks. ... You wind up living a very cautious lifestyle after something like this happens to you."

Baldwin recently earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in "The Cooler" and can be seen starting Friday in the new comedy, "Along Came Polly." He also will star in the upcoming Broadway production of "Twentieth Century."

"I feel like Cinderella," he said of his career revival. "Like I'm Jimmy Hoffa, and I've just been dug up out of the end zone at Giants Stadium."
