Robert Duvall to get a Hollywood star

HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Actor, writer, and director Robert Duvall will be honored with the 2,236th star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame during ceremonies next Thursday.

The star will be unveiled in front of Hollywood's Kodak Theatre, with James Caan and Billy Bob Thornton scheduled to take part in the event.

Duvall has starred in some of America's most acclaimed films, including The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, both of which earned him Oscar nominations. He was also nominated for Oscars for his roles in Apocalypse Now and The Great Santini.

Duvall won a best actor Oscar for his role in Tender Mercies.

Duvall wrote, directed and starred in The Apostle, receiving yet another Academy Award nomination, as well as co-starring in Deep Impact and A Civil Action, which won him his sixth Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination.
