"We are happy to have entered into agreements with customers in the power sector and look forward to entering into agreements with other customers in this sector soon," said P.M.S. Prasad, president and chief executive of petroleum for RIL. "The expected supply of 18 (million standard cubic meters per day of) gas to the power sector would largely eliminate the deficit in gas supply being currently faced by these units."

The nine power companies are Gautami Power, Gujarat Paguthan Energy Corp., GVK Industries Ltd., Konaseema Gas Power, Lanco Kondapalli Power, Maharashtra State Power Generation Co., Reliance Infrastructure, Torrent Power and Vemagiri Power Generation.
