The college announced that its Pueblo campus will be the site of the system, which will provide more than 1 megawatt of solar power to the facility.

Black Hills Energy and BP Solar will construct the system, which is estimated to be capable of providing more than 10 percent of the university's electricity demand.

Installation is expected to be complete and the system operational this fall, the university said. Officials said the college will buy the electricity from BP Solar, and Black Hills Energy will be responsible for purchasing the solar on-site renewable energy credits generated from the system.

CSU-Pueblo President Joseph Garcia said the system is part of the university and the state's efforts to get more energy from renewable sources.
