Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline deal near

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 24 (UPI) -- India, Iran and Pakistan are close to signing a deal on a gas pipeline, Pakistan's PTV World television reported.

The comments were made by the Pakistani and Iranian oil ministers after their talks with their Indian counterpart on the sidelines of the International Energy Forum in Doha, Qatar. Pakistan's Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah Khan Jadoon, said technical issues still need to be resolved. Iranian Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh said a deal was expected to be signed in Tehran in June.

The United States opposes the $7 billion pipeline that will take Iranian gas to energy-hungry India via Pakistan.
