Brazilian military receives Helibras helicopters

Airbus Helicopters reports its Brazilian subsidiary has recently delivered two H225M aircraft to the nation's armed forces.

May 25 (UPI) -- Airbus Helicopters reports its Brazilian subsidiary has recently delivered two H225M aircraft to the Brazilian Armed Forces, with two more in the pipeline.

The first helicopter is in full configuration and featuresspecial mission systems unique to the army. The second was in full operational configuration use in combat search-and-rescue, and was delivered to the air force. Both are built by the Airbus subsidiary Helibras.

Delivery of the aircraft to the air force brings the number of H225Ms in its fleet to 12. In addition to the dozen of the Brazilian Air Force, the army also flies nine H225Ms and the navy has seven of the rotorcraft.

Completion of delivery of 50 aircraft is expected to be met by 2022.

"We are on track with the delivery schedule and we are confident, thanks to our highly skilled teams that we will deliver on time to the three Armed Forces," Richard Marelli, president of Helibras, said in a press release.

The two additional H225Ns, the latest evolution of the company's Super Puma/Cougar family of military helicopters, will be delivered to Brazil later this year.

Brazil's H225Ms are assembled at Helibras Itajuba's plant.
