Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Cubic Defense New Zealand has been recognized by Australian Defense magazine as the premier small- to medium-sized regional defense contractor.

The recognition is the third consecutive annual honor given by the publication to the company, which the magazine has ranked 24th on its list of top 40 defense contractors in the region.

"Cubic has three decades of engagement in Australasia, and the region remains pivotal to our mission of delivering enhanced training systems and services to our allies," said Dave Buss, president of Cubic Global Defense, a business unit of Cubic Corporation. "We are honored to receive this recognition for both our teams in New Zealand and Australia, as this demonstrates our successful efforts to strengthening our NextTraining strategy and advancing mission readiness to our partner nations."

Cubic operations in Australia advanced to 15th place in the magazine's top 20 list of small and medium defense enterprises.

"The data compiled in the annual Top 40/Top 20 SMEs survey is important as it not only demonstrates the value of the defence industry to the Australian economy but also the range of sophisticated capabilities that have been developed locally in the past twenty years," said Judy Hinz, publisher, Australian Defence Magazine. "We congratulate Cubic Defence New Zealand for topping the Defense SME charts again and for their notable effort in advancing the defense industry in the region."
