USAF extends satellite systems support contract

Harris Corporation has received a contract extension from the U.S. Air Force in support of satellite operations.

HERNDON, Va., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has extended its contract with the Harris Corporation for operations, maintenance and logistics support for its satellite operations.

The extension of the Network and Space Operations and Maintenance contract covers two network control locations and antenna sites worldwide. It is for nine months and carries a value of $40 million.

Among the locations is a network control facility of the 50th Space Wing at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo.

Other locations are in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.; Diego Garcia Station; Guam Tracking Station at Andersen Air Force Base; Hawaii Tracking Station at Kaena Point, Hawaii; New Boston Air Force Station, N.H.; Eastern Vehicle Checkout Facility, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.; and Thule Tracking Station, Thule Air Base, Greenland

"The Air Force Satellite Control Network is crucial to our national security, and Harris is committed to providing mission excellence."
