Alion supporting new technologies for Army vehicles

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- New technologies to enhance the performance of U.S. Army ground vehicles are to receive support services from Alion Science and Technology.

The services contracted by the Army's Tank-automotive and Armaments Command are in the areas of research, development, test and evaluation and will include test planning, systems engineering and integration, modeling and simulation, technology development, design for survivability engineering and human factors engineering.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award has a value of $634 million and will be performed for a number of TACOM organizations, including the Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center.

"The multi-faceted challenges of current and emerging threats, diverse operating environments and evolving technical standards require a flexible, agile approach to R&D and engineering," said Chris Amos, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Technology Solutions Group. "Alion's long history and experience identifying, developing and delivering ground systems solutions will allow us to help the Army fulfill its mission needs rapidly and cost-effectively."

Details as to the length of the IDIQ contract were not disclosed.
