Harris opens new Florida office

TAMPA, Fla., May 2 (UPI) -- Harris Corp. has opened an office in Florida to support U.S. Department of Defense and national intelligence programs customers in the region.

"This facility demonstrates Harris' commitment and long-term dedication to our customers in the Tampa region and support to our military around the globe," said Dan Pearson, Harris executive vice president and chief operating officer.

"This investment will better enable Harris to integrate and deliver innovative products and services from across the corporation in solutions tailored to our customers' needs."

The Harris Tampa office will support U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, and the U.S. Joint Forces Command's Joint Communications Support Element.

Harris focuses on assured communications to deliver tactical command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and IT solutions.

The office opened Friday with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company officials, customers and partners.

Harris is one of the largest public companies with headquarters in Florida and has developed some of the world's most advanced communications and information networks, products and services.
