ARLINGTON, Va., March 2 (UPI) -- Defense contractors BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman have united in a move to address the U.S. Army's new infantry fighting vehicle solicitation.
The Army called on the defense market to develop proposals for the Ground Combat Vehicle program that will deliver a next-generation tactical infantry vehicle solution.
Under the announced partnership, BAE will be the prime contractor and Northrop Grumman will support command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance requirements to jointly pursue the Ground Combat Vehicle program.
"Our team looks forward to working side-by-side with the Army and its soldiers in the development of the new Ground Combat Vehicle," Mark Signorelli, BAE Systems' Ground Combat Vehicle vice president and general manager, said in a statement.
"Collectively we bring the proven experience, the latest technology and cultures of innovation and service to the Army's effort to develop a new generation of fighting vehicles."
