Viper laser production improved by NG

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., March 1 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman successfully ramped-up its infrared countermeasure technology production to address U.S. military requirements.

U.S. company Northrop Grumman announced its Viper laser and pointer tracker assembly production capacity has more than doubled. The Viper technologies support U.S. military and allied nations' infrared countermeasures systems.

The man-portable air defense system countermeasure technology production upgrade at Northrop Grumman's Illinois facility is move to address the evolving needs of troops in combat theaters.

"We have invested a lot of energy and resources to develop our Viper laser supply chain while expanding our production capability to ensure state-of-the-art lasers are delivered to our troops in the field in a timely manner," Carl Smith, Northrop Grumman's Land and Self Protection Systems Division Infrared Countermeasures Programs vice president, said in a statement.
