DSC Philadelphia orders Ceradyne inserts

COSTA MESA, Calif., May 26 (UPI) -- The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia announced it has ordered additional enhanced small-arms protective inserts from Ceradyne Inc.

California-based Ceradyne was awarded the order as part of its three-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract with the U.S. Defense Department's Defense Supply Center Philadelphia.

Officials say Ceradyne, a developer of technical ceramic products and components for the defense market, will deliver $7.3 million worth of its enhanced small-arms protective inserts as part of the order.

"We are very pleased to have received this order and believe we will continue to ship this enhanced small arms protective inserts product on time with the high standards of quality required," David Reed, Ceradyne North American Operations president, said in a statement.

"Based on non-binding conversations with the government, we believe that there will be additional delivery orders against the blanket Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract this year."
