Egyptian conjoined twins head home

DALLAS, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- A pair of conjoined twins successfully separated by surgery two years ago headed home to Egypt Saturday, a report said.

Ahmed and Mohamed Ibrahim, who shared a body when they were born in 2001, have undergone a number of operations and therapy since their successful separation surgery in at Medical City Children's hospital in Dallas.

"When we came here we don't know what's going to happen with the future," mother, Sabah Abu el-Wafa, said through a translator as she prepared for the trip back to Egypt.

"But now with the doctors' and God's help, we have two healthy kids," she told WFAA-TV in Fort Worth, Texas.

Their parents prepared for a life in Cairo to continue the twins' treatment and education, but they said they planned to head first to el-Homr, Egypt, for a family reunion where the twins will get to meet their siblings and grandparents.
