Raytheon gets $291M Sidewinder missile contract mod

Modification covers Sidewinder missiles and associated equipment for U.S. and allied forces.

WASHINGTON, July 5 (UPI) -- Raytheon Missile Systems has been awarded a $291 million modification to a fixed-price-incentive-firm U.S. Navy contract covering the procurement of 660 AIM-9X Block II Lot 16 Sidewinder missiles.

The missiles will go to the Navy, Air Force, Army and the governments of Japan, Norway and Taiwan.

The contract modification also provides for the procurement of 252 Block II Captive Air Training Missiles for the Navy, Air Force, Japan, Norway, Turkey, Australia and Taiwan.

The contract modification also includes:

-- 13 special air training missiles for the Army and The Netherlands.

-- 274 all up round containers for the Navy, Air Force, Army, Japan, Norway, Turkey, The Netherlands, Australia and Taiwan.

-- 15 captive test missiles for the Navy, Air Force and Army.

-- 1 Lot of classified assets for Australia.

-- 22 spare advanced optical target detectors for the Navy, Air Force, Norway and South Korea.

-- 30 spare guidance units for the Navy, Air Force, Norway and S. Korea.

-- 30 spare captive air training missile guidance units for the Navy, Air Force, Norway, Turkey and Australia.

-- 27 guidance unit containers for the Navy, Air Force, Norway, Turkey, South Korea and Australia.

-- 14 spare advanced optical target detector containers for the Navy, Air Force, Norway, South Korea and Belgium.

-- 2 spare block I propulsion steering sections for Turkey and Denmark.

-- 4 spare block II propulsion steering sections for South Korea and Taiwan

-- spares for the Navy, Air Force and 16 lots of spares for Finland, Denmark, Australia, Japan, Israel, Turkey, The Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, Oman, Switzerland, South Korea, Romania, Belgium, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Work is expected to be completed by March 2019.
