Pratt & Whitney gets F119 contract mod

The $64 million contract modification will go toward U.S. Air Force F119 engine sustainment.

WASHINGTON, June 9 (UPI) -- Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a $64 million modification to a previously awarded U.S. Air Force unfinitized contract for F119 engine sustainment work.

Work will be performed at Air Force bases in Connecticut, California, Alaska, Hawaii, Utah, Virginia, Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma and Florida.

The work is expected to be completed by December. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity.

The F119 propels the F-22 Raptor jet. It features a unique thrust vectoring nozzle, integrated stealth characteristics and the capability to supercruise, which allows the jet to hit Mach 1.5 without afterburner.
