The AEW&C system can be used for border surveillance, anti-crime and terrorism efforts, as well as search and rescue operations.

The contract is subject to the fulfillment of certain financial conditions, with work to be undertaken at Saab's Surveillance business area and Support and Services business area.

Saab's AEW&C systems are utilized by eight countries and combine Saab's Erieye Extended Range radar and mission system, as well as the Global 6000 jet, manufactured by Bombardier.

The system can undertake simultaneous long-range detection in land and maritime domains, as well as airborne tracking and surveillance, from a single platform, the company says.
