BAE gets U.S. Air Force radar contract

Contract modification is for Solid State Phased Array Radar Systems.

WASHINGTON, May 27 (UPI) -- BAE Systems Technology Solutions and Services was awarded a $49.6 million contract modification for the U.S. Air Force's Solid State Phased Array Radar Systems.

The contract involves managing, operating and logistically supporting the program at several locations.

Work will be performed at Beale Air Force Base in California, Cape Cod Air Force Station in Massachusetts, Clean Air Force Station in Alaska, Greenland's Thule Air Base and Royal Air Force Flyingdales in England.

The work is expected to be completed by August 2017.

The 21st Contracting Squadron out of Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado is the contracting authority.

The radar system provides missile warning and space surveillance awareness.
