TRIESTE, Italy, March 4 (UPI) -- A semi-submersible floating platform has been delivered by Fincantieri to Russia's RosRAO for the transportation of nuclear submarine reactor compartments.

Construction of the Itarus, which was delivered to the Russians on Thursday at Fincantieri's shipyard in Muggiano, Italy, is the result of a 2003 deal between Italy and Russia for the decommissioning of nuclear submarines and the safe management of radioactive waste and nuclear fuel.
