Poland to receive CAE training simulators for C295 aircraft

MONTREAL, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Full-flight training simulators and other equipment and services are to be provided to military organizations by CAE of Canada.

The separate contracts received by the company have a combined total value of more than $98.7 million.

"Defense forces and original equipment manufacturers from around the world continue to turn to CAE for their training needs, and we are happy to add new platforms such as the SH-2G and Tiger helicopters to our portfolio," said Gene Colabatistto, CAE's group president, Defense & Security. "These orders show the continued focus by defense and security forces on expanding their use of simulation-based training."

CAE said it is to design and manufacture for the Polish Air Force a full-flight simulator for the C295 airlifter. The contract was issued by Airbus Defense and Space and that the simulator will be the fourth CAE will manufacture for operators of the aircraft.

The simulator for Poland will feature an electric motion system, CAE Medallion-6000 image generator, and the common database (CDB) architecture that enables real-time mission training capabilities.

The unit will be delivered in 2017.

Poland operates 16 of the transport planes.

Germany's Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support, exercised a contract option for CAE GmbH to continue providing a range of maintenance and in-service support through 2021 at the German Army Aviation School in Bueckeburg, CAE said.

The contract covers the on-site maintenance and training support services of the 12 CAE-built helicopter simulators operated at the school. The company will also deliver two more two additional CH-53GA cockpits for use on the school's roll-on/roll-off simulators under a separate contract.

For New Zealand, CAE will perform updates to an existing SH-2G(I) Full Mission Flight Simulator and SH-2G(I) Part Task Trainer as part of a comprehensive acquisition by the New Zealand Defense Force of 10 SH-2G(I) helicopters from Kaman Corporation.

Following delivery of the SH-2G(I) synthetic training devices VCAE will provide through-life support and maintenance services for them for 15 years.

The European agency that manages through-life support of cooperative defense programs, OCCAR, has tapped CAE to conduct an analysis of training needs for the German-French Tiger Helicopter Technical School located in Fassberg, Germany.
