SAIC wins spot on BPA for counter-IED services

SAIC is to provide support services to the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization under a blanket purchase agreement.

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- SAIC has been given a place on a multiple award blanket purchase agreement to support the U.S. military in efforts to counter improvised explosive devices.

The BPA award comes under the General Services Administration's Federal Supply Schedules by the GSA Federal Systems Integration and Management Center.

Support services will be performed for the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, Joint Center of Excellence Counter-IED Integration Training Program.

Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) Joint Center of Excellence (JCOE) Counter-IED Integration Training Program.

Services will include training, experimentation, testing of new equipment and concepts. Among other services to be provided is assistance with the development, installation, maintenance, and disposal of training devices.

"This award provides SAIC the opportunity to continue supporting the Joint Center of Excellence Counter-IED Integration Training Program's important mission," said John Gully, SAIC senior vice president and general manager of the Army and Air Force Customer Group. "This critical program prepares our forces to overcome IED threats and, as a result, save lives."

The BPA is in effect until the spring of 2019. Its estimated total value for all four BPA recipients is estimated at about $408 million.
