Elbit Systems providing C4I systems to Latin American country

An unidentified Latin American country has ordered C4I systems from Elbit as it modernizes its military's communications and control capabilities.

HAIFA, Israel, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Elbit Systems Ltd. of Israel says it is supplying C4I systems to an unidentified country in Latin America as part of a military modernization program.

The contract for command, control, computer, communications and intelligence systems is worth $80 million, it said.

"We are pleased with this award that further strengthens our position as a leading global supplier of C4I systems, which are already operational in dozens of countries worldwide," said Yehuda (Udi) Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems Land and C4I Division. "We hope more customers will follow in choosing our cutting-edge unique solutions."

Work under the contract will be performed over a three-year period and involves a unified communications network for maneuvering forces up to command staff.

Elbit Systems said the network will play a key role during emergencies and natural disasters, and will facilitate a real-time, common operational picture for enhanced operational performance and situational awareness.
