Thales, France sign deal on aviation equipment support

PARIS, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- A six-year contract that bundles earlier through-life agreements for aircraft optronic equipment has been signed by Thales and the French Ministry of Defense.

The AMADEOS contract carries a value of about $224 million.

Under the award, Thales will provide through-life support and availability management services for all Thales-supplied optronic equipment and systems on board aircraft such as Rafale and Mirage 2000 fighters and Puma and Caracal helicopters.

Thales said its work will include installation and operation of a data management system to enhance the exchange of information with the French armed forces, and provide on-site technical assistance at air bases.

"AMADEOS bundles several earlier through-life support agreements into a single contract to enhance coordination and availability management of optronic payloads in cooperation with the French forces," the company said. "The new contract will also simplify obsolescence management and optimize cost and availability (of equipment and support)."
