Rockwell Collins opens new center

BURGESS HILL, England, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- A new aviation simulation and training center of excellence has been opened in Britain by Rockwell Collins, the company said.

The simulation and training center includes company operations previously conducted at another location, which the company had obtained through acquisition of Evans & Sutherland, a computer company, in 2006.

The new facility will design, develop, manufacture and deliver high-fidelity, high-contrast, display and projector systems for use in immersive simulation and training applications for commercial and military aviation, such as unmanned aircraft control and operations, and ground vehicle operations and maintenance. It will also be a focal point for presenting Rockwell Collins' range of simulation and training systems from across the company to its customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

"The creation of this center of excellence in EuMEA [Europe, Middle East and Africa] is another step toward achieving our vision of growing our simulation and training solutions business through a multi-pronged strategy," said LeAnn Ridgeway, vice president and general manager, Simulation and Training Solutions, Rockwell Collins. "We are acquiring the right capabilities, continuing to invest in research and development, expanding globally, working with partners and applying our expertise in integration so that we work together as one cohesive system."
