Erickson Air-Crane wins U.S. Navy work

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. Military Sealift Command has selected Erickson Air-Crane Inc. to provide replenishment support for the U.S. Fifth and Seventh fleets.

The Navy fleets operate primarily in the Indian Ocean and Pacific areas and the company's support will consist of both sea-based and shore-based support using helicopters.

"We are pleased to have been selected to provide these important services to the Sealift Command," said Udo Rieder, chief executive officer of Erickson. "This new award for Evergreen underlines our growth opportunity and further cements our position as a preferred provider of services for a wide variety of missions in support of Defense Department operations around the world."

Evergreen is a wholly owned subsidiary of Erickson Air-Crane and was the recipient of the $36.6 million contract. The award's time frame is one base year of performance with four option years.

Work to be performed includes search-and-rescue support, medical evacuations, passenger transfers and internal cargo movement.

Erickson is a provider of aviation services to commercial and government organizations.
