PAPENDRECHT, Netherlands, June 21 (UPI) -- Fokker Elmo of the Netherlands has been contracted to provide Lockheed Martin additional electrical wiring systems for F-35 fighters.

The contract for the electrical wiring and interconnection systems carries a value of nearly $53 million, the company said. No details on the number of units to be manufactured and delivered, however, were given.

Hans Buthker, chief operating officer of Fokker Technologies and president of Fokker Elmo signed the contract at the Paris Air Show.

The new contract follows the company's recent delivery of the 100th electrical wiring and interconnection systems chipset for F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters.

Fokker Elmo has been working with Lockheed on the F-35 program since 2002, with 150 workers producing the wiring systems.

The Fokker Technologies group name for four specialized business units: Fokker Aerostructures, Fokker Elmo, Fokker Landing Gear and Fokker Services for development and manufacturing of advanced structures and electrical systems and for integrated services and products.
