NEW YORK, April 2 (UPI) -- A system that tests the reaction of a criminal suspect to a set of questions and analyzes the suspect's nervous system is being sold to Indian police.
Suspect Detection Systems Inc., a company with headquarters in New York, said a contract from state police is for multiple COGITO units and includes a provision for five years of maintenance services.
Which Indian state was involved wasn't disclosed.
"Our company's proprietary anti-terror and anti-crime technology is designed to identify threats in real-time, and prevent incidents before they are carried out," SDSS Chief Executive Officer Gil Boosian. "The technology detects the hidden 'hostile intent' of assailants before they commit their intended acts with a remarkable degree of accuracy.
"We believe that the recent India gang rapes could have been solved much faster had they used the COGITO."
The company said COGITO not only detects hostile intent -- its primary function -- but also takes the biometric fingerprints and voice signature. Its unique capability is that it tests the reaction of the suspect when a set of questions are asked and makes an analysis of the nervous system. It has 15 parameters based on how the exact intent of the suspect is judged.
