HAIFA, Israel, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Israel's Elbit Systems has received separate contracts from the U.S. and Israeli militaries for products and services related to unmanned aerial vehicles.

Under an award from the U.S. Army ACC-APG, Natick Contracting Division, on behalf of the Small Unmanned Aircraft System Product Office, Elbit's U.S. subsidiary will provide support and capability upgrades to systems fielded by the U.S. Army.

The RQ-11B Raven and the RQ-20A Puma are among the systems to receive support from Elbit Systems America.

The Army contract includes the option to procure Elbit's Skylark I-LE Block II as an alternative Medium- and Long-Range SUAS.

Elbit Systems America is one of five companies to receive the award, which has an aggregate value of $248 million.

The contract from Israel's Ministry of Defense, worth about $35 million, is for development of advanced features for unmanned aircraft systems to be supplied within three years.

Elbit said one of the features required for the aircraft is a capability for rapid reconfiguration of UAS payloads.

"The IMOD's decision to award this development contract reflects the trust and recognition of our technological capabilities and further strengthens our long-term strategic cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces in the UAS field." said Elad Aharonson, general manager of Elbit Systems' UAS Division.
