FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 29 (UPI) -- General Dynamics Information Technology has received three task orders for outfitting and transition services from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The orders from the corps' Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville, Ala., are for the planning, purchasing, delivery and installation of medical technology equipment and furniture in support of new military hospitals at Fort Riley, Kan., and Fort Benning, Ga., and for new clinics at Camp Carroll and Camp Humphreys in South Korea.
The task orders have a combined value of $100 million over 28 months.
"General Dynamics has in-depth knowledge and experience in health facility outfitting, medical logistics and healthcare supply chain matters for the military, commercial and international healthcare customers," said Marcus Collier, senior vice president of the Health and Civilian Solutions division.
"We will efficiently transition all the equipment and staff to the new clinics on time so the clinics can provide state-of-the-art healthcare support for wounded warriors and thousands of military health beneficiaries."
The first task order will outfit and help activate the new Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley, a 555,000-square-foot facility with 44 inpatient beds, four operating rooms, a 21-bed emergency room and a traumatic brain injury clinic.
The second task order is to equip and launch the Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning. While the third covers the facilities in South Korea. The U.S. hospitals are to open in 2014, while facilities in South Korea will open early the following year.
