$74M deal for Subsystem Technologies

ARLINGTON, D.C., Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Software engineering support for weapon fire control systems has been given to Subsystem Technologies Inc. by the U.S. Army.

The Omnibus III indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award is for five years and is in support of the Fire Control Systems and Technology Directorate at the Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center at Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. It has a value of $74 million.

Software engineering to be provided will support a wide variety of systems -- including the mortar fire control system, lightweight handheld mortar ballistic computer and the M777A2 LW-155 digital fire control system -- and will aid ARDEC in its research and development and upgrading of equipment.

The multiple-award contract also covers the fire control systems of M109 Paladin and M1A1 Abrams.

"We are thrilled that Subsystems will be an ARDEC vital team member," said Subsystem Technologies Chief Executive Officer Sam Malhotra. "This new opportunity will utilize the current and long-standing Subsystems' expertise in all relevant weapon systems development, maintenance, and enhancement."
