EDGEWOOD, Md., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Smiths Detection will provide a full line of radiation detection equipment and identification products in partnership with Mirion Technologies.

Smiths Detection markets the RadSeeker, a handheld radiation detector and identifier that can distinguish radiological and nuclear threats and eliminate "false positives" produced by naturally occurring radiation or other legitimate everyday radiological materials.

Through its partnership with Mirion a wide range of additional products will be added -- such as a low-cost dosimeter, a pocket-sized detector and a search and radionuclide identifier -- to meet the security needs of the military/defense, homeland security, ports and borders, aviation and emergency response markets.

"This exciting partnership will ensure our customers can access the full range of radiation technologies available in the marketplace today," said Lance Roncalli, Smiths Detection's vice president of Sales-Americas. "Such developments support all our customers as they develop a comprehensive and layered security approach to protect critical infrastructure and secure the free flow of trade."
