"We are committed to supporting the Navy with high-quality, affordable post-delivery and modernization services to help ensure the readiness and capability of the fleet around the world," said Jeff Geiger, president of Bath Iron Works. "This award indicates confidence on the part of the Navy in our ability to maintain DDGs."

General Dynamics said the 2016 contract ending date is predicated on all contract options being exercised. If they were all exercised, the total value of the contract would be $371.6 million.

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works handles post-delivery maintenance and modernization for DDG 51 class ships and all FFG 7 class ships. The work is mainly conducted in five states as well as in Japan.
