L-3 Unidyne tapped for submarine support

NORFOLK, Va., June 6 (UPI) -- A $79 million engineering support contract for U.S. Navy submarines has been given to L-3 Unidyne.

Under the contract, L-3 Unidyne will provide a wide range of equipment or system expertise for all classes of submarines to support readiness and enhanced maintenance training of their crews.

Services will include troubleshooting, repair, assessment, inspection, failure analysis, maintenance training, logistics support and modernization.

"This is a significant win for us and we're extremely pleased that the Navy has recognized our exceptional record," said John Greene, president of L-3 Unidyne's Marine Service Sector.

"Having been the incumbent on this contract for more than 20 years, we have provided outstanding products and services to the U.S. submarine force, and we look forward to our continued work in support of the program."

L-3 Unidyne said its work for the Navy will be performed in Norfolk, Va.; Portsmouth, N.H.; Kings Bay, Ga.; Groton, Conn.; Bremerton, Wash.; San Diego.; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Guam.
