Virtual training by mobile device debuts

LONDON, March 28 (UPI) -- Virtual training simulations that run on mobile devices such as tablets and iPhones have been introduced by Caspian Learning of Britain.

VBSWorlds is a new version of the company's SCORM, a compliant military training simulation software used by NATO to create maritime interdiction operations simulations. It includes technology that enables any virtual training scenario to be published to the internet, to an iOS-based device or to an Android device, the company said.

The software is based on technology grounded in cognitive behavior study and is designed to ensure that actual learning and behavior change takes place within training simulations," Caspian Learning said.

"This is achieved by allowing developers to create highly immersive 3-D training scenarios or 'serious games' to improve learner engagement, immersion and interactivity."

Caspian Learning said virtual training scenarios created with VBSWorlds can be linked in to any SCORM compliant learning management system for real-time performance feedback.

"VBSWorlds is one of the few mobile training applications that has been completely designed from the very beginning to support and encourage actual behavior change," said company spokesman Lee Rushworth.

"We're extremely proud that scenarios created with VBSWorlds can contain all the information found in PowerPoint slides, page-turners and traditional elearning, while making their contents infinitely more engaging and effective."
