CHATSWORTH, Calif., March 2 (UPI) -- California company Aitech Defense Systems Inc. has developed a single-board computer designed for several uses, including reconnaissance applications.
Aitech said the device is an upgrade of its avionics offerings for U.S. government agencies.
The company, which specializes in open architecture electronic boards and subsystem-level products, said the computer is planned for data and graphics-intensive military embedded systems, including avionics, unmanned aerial vehicles and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance applications.
Aitech said its new board is "ideal for a number of other embedded and harsh environment military and defense applications" and can be coupled with industry-standard real0time operating systems or Linux.
Last year NASA awarded Aitech Defense Systems Inc. nearly $3 million in contracts.
