SAN DIEGO, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Ground and airborne subsystems used in aerial combat training are being supplied to the U.S. military by Cubic Defense Applications.
The California company said the contract from the U.S. Air Force Air Range Instrumentation Systems Branch is worth more than $30 million.
Under the award, Cubic and prime subcontractor DRS Defense Solutions will provide P5 Combat Training System/Tactical Combat Training Systems airborne subsystems and ground systems to various Air Force bases, including in Alaska and Nevada, early next year.
"This contract will improve air combat training at the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex by providing a more robust ground subsystem infrastructure and a supply of pods to be used by visiting squadrons," said Jim Rower, program director for P5CTS/TCTS at Cubic Defense Applications.
The P5CTS/TCTS provides real-time training for air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air combat training, including live monitoring of weapons simulation training exercises.
