Force Protection adds to TAPV team

LADSON, S.C., May 25 (UPI) -- U.S. company Force Protection Industries has added two companies to its industry team in its bid for Canada's Tactical Armored Patrol Vehicle program.

Force Protection said Lockheed Martin Canada will be the provider of integrated C4ISR systems for the program and Israel's Elbit Systems will provide the Dual Remote Weapon Station for vehicles it produces if it wins the contract.

CAE of Canada was announced recently as Force Protection's main Canadian partner with responsibility for providing the in-service support solution.

Force Protection is offering the Canadian military variants of the Cougar wheeled armored vehicles to meet TAPV requirements.

Canada's Department of National Defense expects to award a contract to the final selected bidder by early next year.

Force Protection Industries is one of several competitors shortlisted to compete for the supply of up to 600 wheeled combat vehicles expected to replace patrol and reconnaissance vehicles serving Canadian land forces.

Both Elbit Systems and Lockheed Martin Canada will rely on local manufacturing, further contributing to the team's economic proposition.
